So I was registering for my MCAT in June.. took it twice already but plan to absolutely annihilate it this time around. Only problem is....updating my scores.

I just talked to an advisor @ MWU in Downers Grove and they said they would take the MCAT they have on file. Am I better off waiting until I get my scores back then applying? Or should I submit my application when they open and hope and pray that they don't weed me out without updating my scores? I plan on applying a bunch of places but when an advisor told me that they would take my application as-is, put a wrench in my stomach. Love to hear what you guys think and give me some good news please.

Its up to you. You'll get your scores back in 30 days and July is still considered "early".

You'll probably get your secondary request regardless of what your current score is. (assuming it's in the 20's) then you can update CCOM as soon as your scores show up in July. Your chances of being weeded out by then are minimal.

If you want to be really safe, sit on the secondary till your new MCAT score is in, update then submit.

July or August isn't that late actually!

Is it really? I was under the impression that June was the cut-off of being classified "early." I know applications go out in May and that's the only reason why I'm freaking out.

My current score is a 25R.

So you are saying just submit my primary application and wait on submitting my secondary application until I get my scores back?

Yeah, a month is nothing, especially at the beginning of the cycle.

I got my secondary invites in Sep, didn't complete them till November December and January, even had my top choice app lost till Feb, I got interviewed after sitting on the secondaries for 2+ months. And I was very late in the cycle.

This early on, you can wait on your secondary's till your scores arrive. Use the time to perfect your essay responses and you'll be sitting pretty.

June isn't the cut off, its the first day. You can't submit prior to June anyways (some years it changes).

I'm not sure. This would be a judgment call. I ended up sending new grades in during August, after I had submitted my primary in early July or late June, and none of the schools I interviewed at had the updated grades on my file... I'm not sure if they look at your new MCAT scores or not (they say they do, but they say the same thing about grades), but if it were me, I'd wait to submit.

I appreciate all the advice that you guys have given.

I think I'll just work on my application and have it ready for when I have my scores in Mid-July and just submit it then.

Honestly this is the best plan IMO.

I didn't re-submit grades or test scores so I wasn't aware of how the schools might not even bother looking at them.

July is still 4 months earlier than my earliest secondary completion and I got in. You'll be fine!

It could be worse. At least you're not ACTUALLY a pickle.

This. Get your primary in early and you can always wait on submitting the secondary until you are ready to be complete. Everyone that meets minimum requirements will get the secondary so I'm sure you will get one. June 1st is the first day to submit anyway so a mid June MCAT, update your MCAT score in July and submit your secondaries the second you are ready. Secondary turnaround is the most important part IMO once you have your primary in.

Exactly! In the meantime while you wait, just work on the applicantions. I did that, and it prevent less stress and procrastination!
