Hi everyone,

Wanted to get your thoughts and any advice on this : I am an fmg currently r2 in an IM community program. I have 3 years of research in chemotherapy. Recently I have developed an interest in rad onc - I think it's more effective than chemo and of course the lifestyle is better but with the same gratification.
I was initially thinking of applying for heme-onc. But now I'm considering applying for both.
Thoughts/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

It never hurts to try, but you are unlikely to match. Your best chance is to finish your IM residency and subsequently do a year or two of research in a radonc department and have several publications in radonc prior to applying.

Or go into heme/onc. Probably far easier coming from an IM residency than rad onc. Rad onc is a tough match in general, and almost impossible for an IMG. I think it makes far more sense to take those 2 years of research and in an extra one actually be eligible to be a board certified heme/onc.
