so i'm sitting in dental anatomy and the prof said if anyone could tell him the purpose/function of these said lines than they get 5 points on the next quiz.
Any help?

I don't think they are themselves useful. The only thing I can think of is that you can use them to see the daily growth of that tooth (they represent the daily mineralization deposits of the growing enamel.)

I think its growth of dentin, although not useful.
