I am an IMG/US citizen and I scrambled this year, ( I wasnt in the match) and didnt get a position.
Besides using findaresident for unfilled spots, what else can I do for another year?
I am ECFMG certified and I just wanted to find out what else I can do as an MD here in US. I've heard that I can work in a community health center, does anyone know if thats true?

Other than that and/or research in a hosp, what else are my options? I am confused about what to do for another year, I'd appreciate any help.

From what I've heard there are not many options. Research or a medical related job are probably your best bet. Something with some kind of patient interaction would be good as most PD will ask you next year what you have been doing for a year. Check your local hospital/university center for related openings. I dont know anything about working in a community clinic but that sounds good if it works out.
You can also check out www.careermd.com go to the top right pull down menu and click on open residency positions and nagivate from there. Remember there are still a few open positions even as late as June and into July sometimes so keep a look out.

Keep trying, dude. Take a spot, any spot, and get back into the match next year. I know a guy who was in a similar position as you, and he got a prelim spot just yesterday.

There's a lot of time between now and July 1st. Keep calling and calling. Exhaust all options. And, best of luck.

there are jobs at the FDA for MDs (just have to have ECFMG cert, not a state license). I see these advertised in the NEJM from time to time. Maybe other govt jobs out there

Thanks for your replies, they were helpful for me!
