Sorry, I'm still new to this caribean school business. I was looking at lot of posts and as I read them, I came across two acronyms often, IMG and FMG. What does that mean?? Can someone please explain the difference and how you are different from a US medical student if you are IMG or FMG.

Foriegn medical graduate & International medical graduate. No different from a US grad. We just have more hoops to jump through. We take the same USMLE test and apply for the same residencies.

The two terms are a bit different. From my understanding IMG refers to someone who is a Graduate of a foreign school who is also a citizen or permanent resident of the country where the term is used. For instance, a Canadian upon completing their medical degree in a foreign country would be considered an IMG back in Canada (not a FMG). If one was to be a citizen or resident of some European country for instance, then they would be considered a FMG in Canada even if they graduated from the same school as the individual in the first example.

Same meaning. I think in the US, FMG is used whiles IMG is used in Canada but it is the same and it means that your medical education was not done in the US or in Canada.
