How hard is it for an IMG to go into plastic surgery in the US? I understand it is hard, so I am not looking for anyone to say it is easy because it is hard even for US graduates, the question is what are the requisites that one must have to be a suitable candidate. The question is because IMGs usually have visas that allow them to be in the US for a limited amount of time, in which case spending a couple of years doing research and then 5, 6, or 7 years in residency adds up to 7 to 10 years. No visa lasts 10 years, so this becomes a problem. If anybody knows anything about this topic I would appreciate a response. Thank you.

That is a very difficult question to answer and I'm not sure I would know where to start. Instead I would like to ask you a question:
Why not pursue plastic surgery training in your own country?
