Is an imine formed only when a ald/ketone reacts with an amine in acid
or in heat as well?

ex) butanone + methylamine heat---> imine

Don't worry about the heat. Whether heat is included or not:

Ketone/Aldehyde + Primary Amine (or NH3) with acid catalyst --> Imine

Ketone/Aldehyde + Secondary Amine with acid catalyst --> Enamine
