Hi,

I was just wondering if admissions comittees take into consideration which university the applicant attended. I was wondering this because I know the degree of difficulty at different universities vary. Is a lower GPA at a higher ranked school more acceptable than a lower GPA at a state school? Thanks for your help.

well i think thats why the mcat is such an important factor. it is a level playing field for everyone.

this is a very good question. i went to a very small college in alabama that has an excellent reputation in the state, but when i applied to pod school on the opposite side of the country i don't know if they took the quality of the school into consideration. how would they know? but, our podiatry dean did say in a recent meeting that they do take quality of undergrad institution into consideration. i just don't know how they do it. maybe there is some ranking system they use.

in my experience, what school you went to didnt matter. you could go to moon boot u undergrad and as long as your numbers look good youre in!

I don't think they take it into too much importance either. I went a pretty much unknown small university and did well, got accepted to a number of pod programs. No one said anything during the interviews about the university at least. My undergrad has their spring semester where you can study abroad for 6 weeks every year (which I went away since freshman year) and the interviewers thought it was an awesome experience.
