hi!

does anyone know if different optometry colleges are allowed to share information ( ie. compare essays) of an applicant?...why do they ask you what other schools you are applying to?

Could someone please respond..
Thanks

It would be highly unethical for them to do so.

I think they ask what other schools you apply to so they can gauge your dedication to becoming an OD.
Also, if you write in your essay "i want to go to xxxx because of the high board pass rates" but you apply to yyyyyy that has low pass rates, it may cause concern.

why do they ask you what other schools you are applying to?

Every school does this regardless of what type of program you are applying to. It is useful for the schools to know if there is a trend for all/many of their applicants to also apply to a specific school. If they notice a lot of their applicants also apply to another school there may be something they have in common with that school. And it helps to know where to target advertisements if they choose to go that way.

Are you planning on lying on your application?

no, not lie of course not...that would be unethical and unprofessional..as well as academically dishonest..

just curious..anyway thanks! i would never lie🙂
