Taking the DAT in exactly a week! AHH

quick question guys. I bought datqvault, and a lot of people on the forums are saying crack dat reading is better, for the reading portion. SO, should I buy the cdr and also should i get the royal flush edition with the videos of the strategies or are those just a waste and get the regular tests kind only?

THANKS

For reading, it's my personal opinion that the best practice tests were achiever test #6 and #7.

Qvault reading was too easy - it was all search & destroy and the questions were in order in relation to the passage. CDR was too much inference, so it wasn't representative of the real test. I never bought CDR, but from the sample passage as well as other people's opinions, CDR seemed unnecessary.

Don't do any qvault, but CDR might be good practice. For me, the actual RC was about 80% search and destroy with about 20% easy inference questions.

Regardless of whether you buy CDR or not, I think it's a waste to buy the royal flush edition. I only bought the Ace edition for 10 CDP tests.

Thanks! Just purchased achiever. Very hard, was making 21 on the tests on Crack the PAT, and just made a 15 on this sucker. Now I'm about to try the reading.

Another question. After I finish each section, like the sciences, do I have time between to set up for the pat- like the grids and stuff, before it starts?

Once your time stops for the sciences, I believe there's a popup or two that you have to click through to get to the PAT section. I personally have more than 15 mins left in the sciences and made my grids during the leftover time, and then clicked through the popups immediately in case time was running so I'm not too sure if it's a good idea to do your grids during that time.

You should have plenty of time after the sciences, so make your grids then.

What do you mean "in case time was running" I thought you meant you made the grids while the 15 mins was still running?

Yes, I made my grids during leftover allotted time for sciences.

The "in case time was running" was referring to when the popups came up after the science section but before the PAT section. They said something like Next is the Perceptual Ability Test, click okay when ready. In case time was running while the pop up was there, I just clicked through the popups and just started the PAT section as fast as I could.

Again, nothing to worry about so long as you prepare for the science section well enough to end with some time left. I think I actually ended with 30 mins, used 15 mins to ( very leisurely) check my answers, and then had 15 mins to draw my grids. Drawing your grids takes no more than 2 minutes.

I have also heard many people on the forums make their grids during the tutorial, which is what I did, since I required all of my time during the sciences section.
