Are the nbme concepts/answers high yield enough to show up on the actual exam? Is it worth looking up each q? I have only taken the 1st form so far. 😕

i didnt realize that you could find NBME answers online, and i am the type where if im in the study mode doing questions, i MUST find out answers along with explanations. thus i did not do a single nbme because i knew it would have drove me crazy doing all these tests but not knowing what i got wrong and why. instead i used that money and loaded up with kaplan, usmlerx, and uw. i did 90% of kaplan, 80% of usmlerx, and 30% of usmleworld. i bought a yearlong for kaplan way in the begin of 2nd year and used those questions to study for school exams. usmlerx was done in the final 5 weeks before taking it and usmleworld was kind of an afterthought cause my roommate was doing it and said that it was really hard material. which it was and thats why i only did 30% (i was freaking out cause usmlerx i was scoring in the mid 80's but with world in the low 70's. the last thing i needed was a hit to my confidence) with that i was happy with my score, 246, but who knows maybe if i didnt the NBME's i wouldve broke 250? but whatever ill take it

you can't.
(wait...can you?)

at least i haven't found them - what most people do is look up the answers etc to each and every question, from what i understand. i'm not exactly patient enough to do that so use NMBEs are progress markers but UWorld to actually learn from mistakes

The short answer is no. That's what UW is for.

NBME's are more to get a feel for what board questions look like, what areas you should work on, and what range you're in for your level of background & studying score-wise.

i disagree, but everyone has their own goal from their study materials. i looked over my NBME's after i finished - since i scored very well on them, there were only a few questions i even needed to look up and lo and behold (i was just thinkign about this last week) i had a couple of exact questions actually. one of them was an easy one, the other one i had looked up and actually gotten wrong on my NBME. the argument im sure is that its not worth it for 1 or 2 questions but since i only needed to look up a few in the first place, my total review time was very short and worth it i thought. do what you think will help you, but i am glad i spent that 20-30 mins reviewing the questions.

I'll Bite.

So I actually had the exact same picture and a same graph no my test from two of the practice tests I took. Their are no official explanations to these questions however if you google it, you'll find people that have taken screen captures of the test with their answers and people debating it. Now the questions I got WERE NOT the same but because I learned about the figure it was very easy to figure out the answer the next time around. I'm sure it's probably against the NBME to discuss these questions and to post images which is why I'm only gonna say google it. But it is out their and it did help me. In the grand scheme of things though, is a couple questions really worth it? If you get a lot out of going over questions like I do I would say sure, wouldn't hurt if you have some time but don't dwell on this, other sources should definitely take priority
