Improper interview questions?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1. how many other programs are you interviewing at?
2. Where at?
3. how are you ranking us?

I had this questions at two program recently. Sort of pissed off, isn't this again the nrmp rules?

Yes and oh well

I was asked to literally list out my interviews several times and politely obliged and moved on. It is what it is my friend. Confidence in answering the question is best you can do.

The funny thing is that even programs that would theoretically least need to do this, do it. Everyone has insecurities and a lot jockey for position.

I got this question at numerous programs as well. I just try to be honest as I can but I feel like I may have hurt my chances at a mid-to-lower tier program when I told them that I was planning on going anywhere from 15-20 interviews.

Do programs discuss us? Would they call each other and talk about candidates and what they said? Derm is such a small world, it is hard to believe that it wouldn't happen. But again, that violates the rules.
I guess even though I stated my answers with confidence, I'm sure this will influence their decision in the rankings.

I had "illegal" questions at almost every program I interviewed with last year. Most were the benign "so, tell me about yourself... are you married?" type, but one PD did straight up ask me "how many interviews do you have". After I told him he said "list them for me" and wrote them all down.

Sounds eerily familiar...
