Hello,

So i was wondering if you guys can just glance over my freshman grades and see where i stand.

Fall:

Gen Bio I: A
Gen Chem I: C+
Calc I : C+
Expository Writing : A

Semester GPA : 3.2
Cum GPA : 3.2

Spring:

Gen Bio II: A
Gen Chem II: B+
Chem Lab : B+
Calc II (for life sciences) : B+
American Government : A

Semester GPA: 3.76
Cum GPA: 3.46

I know that a C here and there isn't the end of the world, but will it be excused in my situation since i had a C+ in a med prereq? I really tried hard for that A in Chem II but i ended up with the B+.

In your opinions is this enough improvement for med schools to excuse my first semester freshman grades? Anything i can do to make up for it?

My university does not allow me to retake courses to change the grade unless i receive a D or lower.

Thanks for your time

Your gpa is still good.
You seem to be understanding the material better now.
Stop being so neurotic 🙂

Having ~3.3 GPA is not competitive for any MD programs. That's not to say its impossible with that GPA, but rather very unlikely. What I can say and I'm sure many posts to follow will say is that this is just your first year, be sure to log a lot of A's in the coming semesters and you'll be fine.

Don't treat this lightly though, you really need to roll out 3.9's+ for the reaming semesters to have a quality GPA when your application will be due.

You do seem to also be having an upward trend, keep that up and even if you GPA isn't super competitive at the end of the day that trend will score you a few marks with the adcoms.
