Hi all,
I would greatly appreciate ANY advice you could give me. I plan on applying next cycle to potentially matriculate fall 2014. Here are my stats: 😳
Undergrad, graduated this May: cGPA 3.34, sGPA 2.89, Medical Anthropology major, Bio minor, 27S MCAT
I was unforgivably unfocused during undergrad and I'm definitely living out the repercussions. (I state my reasons in my PS) I will be doing a post bac program at Drexel that will both raise my undergrad GPA and my MCAT through a formal prep course. During the glide year, I plan on enrolling in the next part of the post bac in which I would take a couple classes with the Drexel MS1s to show med schools that I can handle the rigor of medical school.
I have above average ECs (tons of undergrad leadership positions, summers spent volunteering in free clinics, shadowing, a medical mission trip to Africa, Americorps volunteer, etc) and legitimate LORs. I plan to involve myself in even more during the next few years.
I am a URM, a first generation college student, and from Nebraska (UNMC-state school and Creighton-where I went for undergrad). Also, since I'll be living in Philly for the next two years, I heard that I can qualify for IS.
Given that I do superbly in my post bacc (3.8 - 4.0) and above 32 (going to try extreeeeemly hard), what are my chances either MD or DO? What can I do to maximize my chances at MD?
I'll be forever thankful for any advice you can give me. Thank you!
