Currently, I am a Senior in High School. I just took my third and final SAT on November 3. I haven't received the score for my final SAT yet, but out of the first two, my highest score was a 1940 (570 Critical Reading, 680 Math, 690 Writing).........I feel I did worse on my nov test than this one....

I am taking SAT Subject tests in Math IIC, Bio, and Chem on Dec. 1

My GPA is currently a 4.0.....95.1 to be exact........and I rank 6/608 in the Senior class.

My extracurriculars include Lieutenant Governor of NJ Key Club's Div. 15, National Honor Society Member, Varsity Tennis First Doubles, Auto Detailing Club.

I am a member of the Science Research Magnet Program in my High School.....so far, I have attended my County Science Fair for two years....and won Silver in Physics one year..........and Bronze in Comp Sci another year.........

I have only had one internship: This summer (7/1/07-8/31/07), I worked in a lab at the Pharmacy school in Rutgers. The lab's main focus was MELANOMA DEVELOPMENT IN HUMANS.

I intend on entering this project at this year's County Sci Fair.......

In the future, my plans are to become a pharmacist. Since I am a NJ resident, Rutgers is my first choice for pharmacy school. Rutgers does not require a personal statement, however they do require an essay. The essay topic is given below:

Rutgers University is a vibrant community of people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. How would you benefit from and contribute to such an environment? Consider variables such as your talents, travels, leadership activities, volunteer services, and cultural experiences.

Obviously, this essay will play a huge factor in the admissions process. However, I am unsure of how to write the essay in a way that will impress the admissions officer(s), and lead to my acceptance in the school, even though I obviously have no extremely outstanding achievements. If anyone could give some insight on this, that would be greatly appreciated....Hope my self descriptions help a little......

Also, what other recommendations do you guys have to ensure acceptance into this school, given that I only received a 1940 on my SATs. Does the fact that I did research in that school help a little or no???

Thank you very much.......

I don't think there's anything that can GUARANTEE your acceptance. I don't know any people who did research in high school, so I'm sure that'd be interesting to the adcoms. Are you applying to the accelerated PharmD program at Rutgers?

Kinda random question - is your PI Dr. suzie chen??? And secondly - researching at RU will def help you get accepted. Talk to your PI - maybe they have some connections? I know Dr. Chen teaches some pharmacy classes so she knows people. But anyways, you should talk about your experience at RU so far - what you like about it - how you like the environment, talk about what the pharmacy program has to offer too- what you think you'll do there such as clubs / tennis / opportunity to continue to research - I hope that helps.

yes, my PI was Dr. Chen..........and yes I'm applying to the Pharm. D program.......

I already spoke to her about this...........she said she'll write me a letter of recommendation.......

Thanks for all the advice........

BTW, does anyone think my SAT Score can be a detriment..........

Do you guys think I have a good shot at getting accepted, with respect to information about myself that I provided???

I don't know much about SAT score and pharmacy school. Just to share with you that my daughter was accepted (freshman) to UCLA, UCI, UC Davis, and UVA with a lower SAT(1908) and the same GPA.
