I am a junior this year and will be getting my B.S. degree in 2010. Everyone says to apply a year early to pharmacy school, but I feel I am literally not ready to apply yet. I have a 2.7 GPA and haven't completed all the prerequsites, and gotten experience in pharmacy yet. So I think in my case, I should apply next year and get everything straighten up this year. Any advice will definitely be helpful! And is there anything wrong with applying your senior year? Am I basically doomed?

Do you mean apply right now or apply next fall so you can be admitted for Fall 2010? If it is next fall then you have a whole year to get experience and raise your GPA.

I guess I'm confused on when I should apply. All I keep hearing is to apply a year before the year you're suppose to graduate so that you can go straight into pharmacy right after college if you get admitted. But what happens if you're not ready?

Pharmacy schools expect you to have completed all prerequisites by the time you attend their school.

So for example, if you are taking prereq X this year, and are applying now for entry into pharm school for next year, that's fine.

Don't know if this answers your question.

If you are planning on graduating in spring 2010, then you can enter pharmacy school in fall 2010. Thus, you would apply next year in 2009, which is one year before you start pharmacy school (assuming you make it). Good luck.
