In need of September and October EM Rotations

Hi guys,

I just recently (last month) fell in deep like with Emergency Medicine and I now need to rotate through a few programs. I currently have IM subspecialties scheduled (Pulm and Heme/Onc) scheduled for the months of September and October, but I would really like to not waste those electives and rotate through a potential residency spot ED instead.

Is there any way that I can find an open September or October ED rotation? September (only 3 weeks away) seems like it would be really hard.

Can anyone help me out here? Does anyone know of any programs (I need to rotate through at least 1 DO EM program) that would have a student opening for the month of September?

Does anyone have any information on the Good Samaritan program in Long Island or the Newark Beth Israel program in NJ? They are both DO programs. Which should I rotate through, if given the opportunity?

If dressing up matters to you (versus scrubs) - Good Sam has all docs dress up every day.

I just managed to schedule a rotation through Newark Beth Israel for the month of September, so maybe you'll have some luck with it too. Contact Cheryl Robinson ([email protected]) and give her your name, school, requested rotation, and rotation date. It was a really easy process. Good luck!

Try John Peter Smith (THE Tarrant County Trauma Center) in Fort Worth, TX. They are a new EM residency program but absolutely rock! (I rotated there as a 4th yr). Since they are new, they may be more likely to have open EM spots.

Thanks for the suggestion! I know that hosp is one of the TCOM-affiliated hospitals. Is this an osteopathic EM program? Thanks for your input!!
