Quick question regarding FP in-service exams. What review book(s) have those of you who have taken an in-service exam found helpful? Got $1000 in CME money to spend, and looking for advice... Thanks in advance.

You want to review for the inservice exam 😕 . Do you get a raise if you do well?

If you really want to review - go with a board review book and concentrate on the real thing at the end of residency. That in turn will get you studying for the in-service exam. Residency is not the time to cram. You need to know this stuff long-term. Lots of online stuff out there as well.

Swanson's Family Practice Review is a popular FP board review bk. Its all questions. Crush Step 3 is a nice general review bk as well.

I figure it can't hurt to start looking at the material now. I saw Swanson's and another by Bratton (Family Practice Board Review) online at B&N. Anyone have any experience with Brattons? Anything out there similar to MKSAP questions for IM? Trying to spend my money wisely.

why spend money when you can have access to 1000 questions for free?

go to www.familypractice.com and you will be able to access real inservice questions. the site is sponsored by the American Board of Family Practice. I will tell you that not only do the questions appear and reappear on the inservice exams, variants appeared on my real boards so it's a good resource to look at. the questions are a little bit dated, but then again, so are the exams. it's also helpful for studying for step 3.

if you still insist on spending money than Swanson's is the go to book.

Edgar, Thanks for the link. I registered and began the sample exam. Much appreciated.

Are the questions for the in service exam on the AAFP website still good?

Why do they not update the inservice exams? On the practice questions from a couple years ago, a lot of information is outdated. Should we answer according to current recommendations or past ones?

swansons, its great, the chapter summaries are helpful also..

I will be recerting in December. I plan to take a week off to study. Can Swanson be covered quickly. I practice as an anesthesiologist now but I am hoping that some of what I am doing now overlaps with FM.

Can anyone who took the recert tell me if they thought that it was challenging or not. Are the modules given the same weight as the regular pool of questions on the exam. Also, the test consist of a large amount of questions.
