Does anyone know if you are not a resident of a state but go to 1 year of college in that state, can you now apply to that medical school as an in state applicant? This is not specific to any one state, but if you know of a state that this would work in please let me know.

Being a college student in a state seldom changes your official state of residence, as college students are considered to be there for the primary reason of education and not to establish the state as a permanent domicile

Most AMCAS and AACOMAS applicants apply to schools in a variety of states.

You can't generalize about this because the law and unpublished medical school admissions policies vary from state to state. You should also know that if you decide to move to a state to improve your chances at admission, the admissions officers might think you are trying to pull a fast one. See the case of Paula Buchwald in New Mexico.
