What are some schools that offer in-state-tuition to out-of-staters after one/two years? I remember MCO (medical college of ohio) telling me that out-of-state students are eligible for in-state-tuition after their first year. I also wonder if that is the case for UIC (illinois). I received an interview invite to UIC but am debating whether I should fly to IL for the interview. UIC's out-of-state tuition is ridicuously high ($48,000+). Thanks

their in-state tuition is also not the best, and I've *heard* that they tack on a few summer tuitions to the bill.

I've also *heard* that SUNY-Downstate is flexible about out-of-staters getting in-state tuition after first year.

I believe NJ Med in Newark allows in-state tuition to out of staters after a year. I don't know if Robert Wood does the same.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't UT Southwestern match the difference between instate and out of state residents with grants for any out of staters who get in (including the first year)?

Both UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson offer in state tuition to out of staters starting from the first year. You have to change your drivers liscence, change your voter registration to NJ and there is one more thing that I can't remember before the first day of classes and you are granted in-state tuition.

with out of staters for UIC, the catch is you likely won't get assigned to the chicago campus. you'll either be assigned to Peoria or Rockford, so you'll end up doing your first year at urbana champaign, then have to move to one of those places which are kinda in the middle of nowhere.

As ppl have said, with the UMDNJ schools you can most likely get in-state tuition for the first year. I think with the SUNY schools you can get in-state tuition after first year.

I just interviewed at OSU and they also offer in-state tuition after the first year as it is easy to become an Ohio resident. Also, they have a way to get in-state tuition all four years if a spouse begins working in the state before the school year (interesting but not helpful to everyone). I'm sure they could give more info. Yes, UT Southwestern does end up with instate tuition for out-of-state students.
