during the PAT, both of your hands have to be FLAT on the table in clear view, except when you are choosing an answer on the computer. watch out! they'll be watching you on the video camera!

whoaaa really?! flat on the table ey? thats pretty hardcore...im used to moving around...ackk

from what i hear you can only eat ur snack after PAT and then u go again

i'm VERY SERIOUS. my friend got caught and was penalized by having 5 minutes taken away from his allowed PAT time.

Ask ur local testing center before u take the test just be safe.

You can only eat your food on your 15 minute break (after PAT). As for using your fingers, I don't see that as an issue. We were not required to keep our hands flat on the table at my testing center. I agree with others and I would call just to be 100% sure.

I used my hands for the angle ranking part, they watched me and didn't say anything, I don't see how they can considering its not cheating.

Some test centers let you touch the screen, others don't. The stupid thing about it is that before the DAT became computerized, it was on paper and it was no problem touching the paper or even rotating it to find the answer to the angles. I doubt anyone missed an angle question when the DAT was on paper.

i am taking the DAT in Salt Lake City.
did anyone take it there???

Like others have said, I think touching the screen depends on the testing center. I know I touched the screen to count events in the top end/front end section for some of the questions. The proctor walked behind me at least once or twice during that section in addition to monitoring on camera and never said a word.

Like others have said, it depends on the testing center. However, a college friend of mine who took his test in ND said that someone accidentally ripped their scratch paper during the PAT and the proctors came in and immediately took it away and replaced it with clean sheets because they thought that he was using it for some form of angle measurement or something like that. That said, nothing like this happened to me during my DAT (although I prefer the hands flat on the table method anyway...) Also, at least in my testing center, I think I was the only one taking the DAT that whole day and everyone else was taking other random tests, so I doubt that the proctors would keep that close of an eye just on you during your PAT...but I don't know...

I can't imagine it would be a big deal at any testing center. If you can't touch the monitor that is most likely because they don't want anyone destoying or dirtying their equipment. Not b/c its cheating. And I think the person who said you have to keep your hands flat on the table was joking.

i took the test today and they only cared if u brought in food during the test. for the pat part you can touch the monitor its not like its going to help u, i touched it once. my dumb kaplan teacher told us that we can even put a paper to the monitor and sketch the angles (for angle PAT part) now that was just stupid iam sure i would have been kicked out if i did that.

i can't believe anyone took me seriously. i thought the question was silly. you can always use your fingers to count. but if would be really funny if you called and asked about that.

oh guy dont make this too complicated! I used my pencil to measure one of the pat question! no one said anything, btw the proctor, i think it was her first day because she was reading from somewhere what she needs to ask me and so , she was funny!
