Would it be considered inappropriate to have a LOR from a collegiate athletics coach? I was the captain of a sports team for a D2 school my senior year and had a really good relationship with my coach. I think it may offer a unique perspective in terms of leadership, teamwork, etc. Along with LORs from professors, research advisors, my employer, and an md, it could help illustrate certain aspects of my character that couldn't be expressed in the other letters. What do you think?

Do it.

Definitely do it! While you need to have most of your letters being written by professors/physicians/PIs/etc., having someone outside of medicine who knows you well and can speak to your character is a big plus.

Absolutely do it.

Perhaps my strongest letter came from one of my college coaches. Having a very strong letter backed up the leadership skills I discussed in my PS and in interviews. Having intangibles such as leadership/teamwork goes a long way.

Go for it! You coach is a person who knows you very well and can speak to your character and leadership skills much better than a professor. At least if you are at a school like mine where the classes are huge!
