Hi everyone,
For those who are attending pharmacy school this year and have to fill out immunization certification forms, I was wondering where you go for a TB test. I've looked up places such as CVS Minute Clinic and Walgreens to get the TB test. Although a bit pricy, they seem like safe options. I was thinking about having my primary care doctor to issue a TB test for me to complete at a lab (ie. Quest Diagnostics), but it doesn't seem like my insurance will cover it. So if anyone has any suggestions to more cost-effective options, I'm open to any recommendations. Thanks!

i got it done at walgreens for $55 something ( test + reading) but i heard little clinic is way cheaper than that. You might want to check out their price list.

Hi, Thanks for your response! Did you have to do 2 readings? So was it $55 x 2?

Thats right. i got 2 set and costed $55 each time... Most private insurances covers it, you just have to pay copay.. Also, you will also need blood titers by pharmacy school. Most insurance companies don't cover titers or some do but you have to get prescription from your primary care. Then it would be considered under lab work and would be covered. If it doesn't work then you can go to theranos in walgreen , they do it for under $50.

Does anyone know some cheap options to get a chest x-ray. I had BCG vaccination and failed the TB test.

Any walk-in clinic should have the capability of doing a chest x-ray. If you have insurance you just pay your copay, if not I wouldn't imagine its more than $100.

Primary care should cover it when its under the appropriate code- my dr put it under school related

I went to Cvs minute clinic, paid $35 for TB test and then paid $25 for the TB reading. Like others said, it's pricey but the job got done quickly with no problems so I was happy.

I think at bartell its only 15 dollar for both reading and the test.
