Hey

Ive been looking on this website and the predents site also and I have really noticed an upward trend in dat scores. I recently retook the dat and scored (20AA/21TS/20PA). I was so excited for those scores but now that im noticing all these 22s, 23s, and sometimes 24+, I have been really scared.

Do you think that the averages for schools will increase this year? I could see an increase in dat scores because there are more and better study guides available now than in the past. I know that the people who are on this website tend to score better so it doesn't represent all the dental applicants.

what do you guys think?

Hey, I have the same scores as you and felt extremely proud of my score but after reading through forums on here I got nervous so I created the same thread about a week ago. I think your fine. remember the top schools: Columbia and Harvard average scores are 22 AA and for Harvard I strongly believe its this high because there class size is only 35 seats. So in all honesty your fine, you scored in the 20s and you should be proud because a lot of people don't. As long as your GPA is high and you have good ECs your very competitive in getting into a lot of good schools. Don't stress, If I was you I would celebrate and have a blast because your done with this god-forsaken test lol:hardy:. Congrats on the score. welcome to the 20/21/20 club.

I agree with the above post, don't worry about your scores, they're great. Now go out and enjoy what is left of your summer.

Oh and enjoy dental school!

I think it's more likely that people with good DAT score would be more willing to share his scores on SDN than people with not so good DAT. But there are also people with low DAT that post their score cuz they're freaking out looking for advices. I don't know i guess bruins dude calculated the average and 19.5 sounds about right for being accepted.

You'll eventually find out predents are full of it. For example, students at this one school went on and on about their 24's and 25's. Then, the school released information that their high score was 23. Predents breeds lies.

according to some schools DAT scores when down from 2007 cycle to the 2008 cycle.... not sure exactly of the averages

It depends on the cycle, however I think you did well and you ahve nothing to worry about.

Good luck!

I don't know about an overall increasing trend, because of the limited number of samples. If anything, I had thought the overall (AA scores) were lower, because of the changes to QR. I was absolutely spanked on the QR section the first time I took the DAT. Apparently, they tried something new and many of us were wholly underprepared or shirked QR preparation to focus on other areas. The end result was many of us were mowed over. I have a feeling the previous round of QR scores lowered many people's AA's, as an overall trend.

Yep. I ran into a dental student who got into school last year. Said her AA was 24 but her school listed their highest AA as 22.

You have to be sure you are talking about the correct class. The stats in the most current ADEA book have stats from the class that entered last fall, not the one that will enter this fall. I'm not saying that you're right or wrong. It's mainly a warning to those that compare predents stats to the ADEA book.

Don't worry. I know. She started dental school in the Fall 2007 and compared her AA score with the range listed in the most current ADEA book. That's when I discovered that she was lying.

I think you'll find that many of the people who post on this site are those with higher scores, not the norm.

They are the type of people who, in your OChem class, ask everyone how they did on the test to see how they measure up. Every test, asking each student in class "how did you do" just to solidify their status in their minds.

People with lower scores are not posting them like the higher score people....I think.
