Just curious, anyone here had a bad freshmen year but was able to recover and improve from that point on? If so, what were your grades freshmen year and what's your GPA by the time you applied for dental school? Thanks.

That would be me! Actually, my first 2 years of college I was in a "I don't care" mode and I am now suffering from that attitude. My GPA my first 2 years was 2.75. My first year was even worse, like a 2.4ish. Then, when I finally realized, after working 3 different jobs (held at one time), that I needed to do something with my life and my grades. THat is when I started pulling nothing less than 3.7 for the last 2 and 1/2 years of undergraduate classes. Now, my GPA for dental school is listed below in my signature. Sometimes I wish I had come to my senses earlier, but I realize that I needed that experience in order to be in the position that I am in now.... 😉

Okay good, there is still hope for me then. I have a 3.10 overall gpa and 2.64 science gpa right now after one year.

Oh yeah, you still have plenty of hope. The earlier you realize that grades are very important, the better dental school candidate you will be! I can't believe I used to think as a Fresh/Soph, "Oh, please, as long as I can pull a C, I'll be happy!"

2.7 first semester, 3.1 first 2 years. 3.94 last 3 semesters. 4.0 last semester. 3.49 overall....
