Incredibly Disappointed in myself, need advice. 25 TS/21 AA/ QR 1

EDIT: Please visit updated thread here with full breakdown and conclusion to this story. Yes, the ADA in fact made a mistake. My actual QR score was a 17.

Hey everyone so my DAT scores are:

Bio: 24
Gen chem: 30
Orgo Chem: 25

PAT: 19
RC: 23
QR: 1
TS: 25
AA: 21

Yes that's right, I got a 1 on QR. I have no idea what happened, I studied hard, did Math destroyers, etc. I told the examiner that this must be a mistake for I made sure I answered all the questions, I didn't even mark any questions, and that it must be a glitch.

He wrote a report and told me to talk to prometric in 2 business days. I seriously have never been so sad in my life.

Since I wrote my DAT June 6th, I guess I will have to rewrite on September 6th, does this mean that the cycle is over for me? Should I just not bother e-submitting? My plan was to e-submit this Friday. Undergrad GPA is low, but 4.0 SMP, I'm not a URM, and life really sucks right now.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. There must be a mistake or something very very odd happened. If you indeed did math destroyer I don't see how that's even possible to get a 1,especially since your other scores are all so high.

Relax first of all. Lets see what prometric says. You have very good scores. Hard to believe that math is 1. Let them check it out, then see what they conclude.

This is the craziest thing I've ever seen.

It sucks right now man, but hopefully it' a mistake you can laugh about later!

Just wondering, when you were taking the test, were you unsure of your answers or were you POSITIVE you answered some right? Because if it's the latter, then you should give yourself a break and let the appeals process take over. I truly don't think you could have done so well in all other sections and somehow forgot everything by the time you hit QR. Cheer up.

the fact that you made a 30 in Gchem doesn't really support a 1 in QR (GREAT job btw), I see where you would be incredibly anxious though. I honestly believe its a mistake from the information you gave us and your ultimately going to have to find out through prometric no matter what. That being said, it's still an 'unofficial score' right?

Either way its amazing you kept an AA of a 21 AND made a 1 in QR lol

It's most likely a mistake, that means you got between 0 and 3 questions right. Given your other scores, I'm sure you know how to do math or at least put "C' for every question. Congratulations on your scores, and I'm sure this will get solved eventually through the appeals process.

After I speak to Prometric on Tuesday, I will definitely do this. It sucks that they are charging me $65 for a mistake they must have made, but I guess that's how the ADA makes its money.

ARI!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your amazing DAT bootcamp software (I'm not being paid). But It truly helped me do well in my chemistry section. Also helped with math...but then again, I don't think you want my endorsement with that section. 😛

I just want to tell you all that you are all so positive. I feel so much better now that I know there are other people out there who agree with the absurdity of the situation.

I'm jealous this happened to you. It's a win-win. You either keep the 1 and every school invites you to talk about it. You get the score changed and you're DAT scores become overall amazing, you get interviews, and you have the perfect thing to talk about. Either way, I had a good laugh from this. Good job on your other scores.

If the 1 is legit he might get auto-disqualified for some schools due to the cutoff... It's awesome if it's a mistake, not so much if it's legit (I doubt it is, but still).

It's ok, all I can do is hope for the best and hopefully ADCOMs will see that I'm dedicated to get into dental school.

Also, I don't have the SRY gene, only XX here.

OC 25
GC 30
BIO 24
RC 23
QR XX

For you to have AA of 21, your total score(five added together) should have been 105.

105 - 25 - 30 -24 - 23 = 3

For the numbers to add up correctly, you should have received 3 for your QR, if that helps any 😉

I am gonna favorite this thread just to see what comes of it.
I think it's really difficult to get 1 on QR, so I am sure it is either a mistake, or your brained was literally fried by the end of the day at prometrics.
Let's hope it is the former. 🙂

applesandteeth, I'm almost 100% positive this was a mistake! It happened on premed 101 where there was an error made in marking on an individual's MCAT score, so it really could happen! Go through the appeals process and we'll all be wishing the best for you! 🙂

I tried figuring it out this way too, but if you avg the five scores together including the 1 in QR you get 20.6, which rounds up to a 21. It's a testament to how good your other scores are that you still got a 21AA even with missing the QR section.

Think of it like this... You just bested 90+% of test takers with essentially not completing a WHOLE section. I'm sure you didn't get a 1 because of your other scores, and schools will find this hilariously entertaining and have to see who you truly are. Good luck lady and hope to hear more about this awesome situation.

UPDATE: I called Prometric (20 minute wait on the phone) and they told me to talk to the ADA.
I called the ADA and they wrote a report up for me and also told me I needed to have my incident in writing. It will take 1 week for them to get back to me with a verdict on whether or not it was something on my end or they had a mistake. I also asked the ADA if I can avoid paying the $65 to audit my DAT and they said that they will get back to me. *fingers crossed*

They will not send my official scores out to AASDAS until the situation is rectified.

tl;dr: I will know in a week from the ADA about what happened.

Let us know; I'm kinda interested in how this turns out. It would be a shame to have to discard such awesome scores ha

I will definitely post down a breakdown once I'm done working on my application for this cycle. If you are studying right now, I highly recommend doing Chad's videos for chemistry and math (Not bio), Feralis notes for Biology, Bootcamp, DAT Destroyer, DATQvault (for Biology and PAT) and spending time with your family/friends.
I actually received a C in General Chemistry in 2006...and worked hard to get a 30.

If I can do it.. you can too! *high five*

Why not Chad's for bio? Admittedly, I haven't watched done it, either, but why does no one suggest it?

Chad's videos for biology just doesn't cover enough material to warrant spending time and money on it.

I suggest watching craig savage's videos to learn the Biodiversity section for the DAT. Invertebrate Diversity vs. Vertebrate diversity was a huge help for me. I hadn't learned about coleomates in a long time and he broke everything down well. Also, I hate plants... so his plant diversity and photosynthesis videos were great too. When it came to all the body systems, cell biology, embryology, and genetics.. my college professors had covered it for me so I just relied on Feralis' notes. I didn't even bother with Cliffs AP bio because it was too elementary for me. However, if I was not a biology major, I would have went over Cliffs AP Bio before using Feralis' notes.

Why do so many people hate on plants? They're my favorite thing to study... they're so cool! Think about it... they have to find a way to nourish themselves, reproduce and deal with waste without moving! That's so damn awesome. :luck:

UPDATE 2: Prometric did INDEED make a mistake with my DAT 🙂 !!!!!!!!!!!! They called me today and let me know that they said that when I clicked on my last question, the computer had frozen and only marked my last question. However, it's going to take some time for them to give me my actual score. They said sometime this week.

That's insane! I wonder how many times this has happened where the computer froze and people did not even realize it. That's pretty scary.

I'm curious to see how they are going to determine your answers to the previous 39 questions.

I believe it! Kudos to you. I wonder if they'll refund you the money you had to spend to get them to look at it since it was their fault?? That doesn't seem fair that you would have to pay 60 bucks because they made a mistake...
