I got an e-mail a few days ago from Indiana inviting me for a Spring interview, as they said all of their Fall interview dates are full. They said something interesting... here it is:

"Please be aware that if you are a non-resident applicant, there is a strong likelihood that these interviews will be for alternate positions only. Considering the cost in time and money, this may influence your decision to interview at Indiana University School of Dentistry."

Should I bother sending them my money and going to the interview? I am a CA resident... What exactly is an "alternate position?" Is that like being waitlisted?

yes, it is a waitlisted.
But i think you should go to all interview. What if they really like you and think you are fit for their school

Let's just hope that you get into a school that you dont mind attending during the month of Dec so you dont have to make that decision

please can somone show me or help me start my own thread..have an intervview with IU and wanted to see if anyone has already gone and could give me some pointers..

I went to my spring interview and was accepted. Now I am a D2 at IUSD. Depending on the year and how your interview goes you have a good shot at getting in from a spring interview. I was #10 on the waitlist after my interview and I have a friend here who was #18ish who got in.

I would take it. If you get into your #1 choice before your interview then go ahead and cancel. The fee is a small amount and is not worth passing up.

Feel free to email me (that goes for anyone with an interview at IU) and I can give you some guidance.
