Indication for Suprascapular Injection?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I do it if an IA shoulder injection doesn't help and the patient isn't a surgical candidate. As long as the pain's coming from the shoulder I try it. Probably more effective for posterior shoulder pain right?

I do for nonoperative shoulder OA pain (mostly little old ladies). Have tried it a couple times for other pathology without luck. I figure it’s similar to MBBs with prolonged relief - I mainly see that in the 80+ crowd as well. Managing expectations is important too - it can break a bad pain cycle and maybe reduce the pain from severe to moderate. Have considered RF but haven’t done it.

I do them frequently for chronic shoulder pain of all types. I think I'm doing 3 this AM.

I use US to do it.

It is pretty good for OA, chronic impingement, post op, and post stroke shoulder pain. Adhesive capsulitis is hit or miss, and it sometimes helps for that (worst Dx ever IMO).

I had one pt who had like 8 weeks of shoulder numbness after the injxn, but other than that haven't really had any problems.

Any type of shoudler pain or neck pain in which you think the shoulder is a contributor...or if you think they have a C5 or C6 radic type issue and cervical ESI is not an option for any reason. Seems to help with that decently.

It is a great target for lots of things.

anyone using PNS for this? like the SPRINT system?
