Individual Disability icome coverge for Pain Physicians

Hello everyone

I am a PMR Physicain completing my Pain fellowship under anesthesiology and soon starting to work as a Pain Physician at VA. I am wondering what kind of disability coverage in general Pain Physicians have? A metlife rep agent is in communicarion with me and asking me to pay about 1500 USD for 6 months for a benefit of 6000/m, lifetime benefit, own occupation.
I am 36 yrs old and healthy. Is this reasonable premium to pay ?

1500/6months... 3k/yr for 6k/month benefit - that is a bit steep

and what is lifetime benefit? it is usually 5 years or until age 65...

For reference, I am paying about $800/m for $15k/m coverage for own occ from Berkshire.

i have several plans - because they were initiated at separate times

3.8k/month for $1200/yr
8k/month for $3200/yr
6k/month for $2400/yr

all w/ metlife...

That sounds ok to me for lifetime benefit

Get a FIO rider so you can add more coverage later w/o going through underwriting again

Would not do business with NWM, for multiple reasons

The met life quote is 1500 USD semiannually, it will be locked at that amount for 6000 monthly benefits. Life time, guaranteed insurability, Has a residual and Own
Occupation and includes mental disorders and catastrophic events.
Does taking graded rider instead of locking the premium saves money ?
Any suggestions for reducing the premium.

i have a metlife policy

i plan to dump it b/c last time i looked at it the own occ definition is very weak. just b/c it says own occ doesn't mean it really is. look into it. If you have moderate-severe carpal tunnel refractory to surgery, and LOR or difficult airways are tough but other things are not, will they compensate you? what falls under mental/nervous(most common reasons physicians declare disability)? its tricky
