I wanted to simulate the exam by taking the practice at prometric center, but I am a bit confused... Do I have to reregister through NMBE to get another scheduling permit? I went to prometric site, but it requires scheduling # to proceed.
Any help would be appreciated!

Why don't you just call them and ask? Their number is listed on the orange paper and on the website.

Hi KyGrl,
I did call the number, but I was told to go to NMBE site...I couldn't find the link for the practice test and I thought i'd ask here. 🙂

When you register for the Practice session through the NBME Website they ask for your registration number which can be found on the orange ticket they sent you. They do this in order to make sure you're registered for the real exam before letting you take the practice. Once you register for the practice online thy send you another ticket (this one is YELLOW) and that's the one you use for the day you go take the practice. You still keep your ORANGE one and use it on the day of the real exam. Once you have the yellow ticket (mine arrived in 3 days) you can call prometric to set-up your practice session (or do it online) They ask you for a registration number and this time you use the one from the yellow ticket (which is different from the one on the orange ticket) Then you give them your credit card info so they can charge you the $42 and you're all set.

I was handed down a USMLE CD Rom that contains practice items from 2001/2002. Does anyone know if that's the same as what I'd be taking at a prometric center?
