Hi all

Just wondering if whoever can give me any kind of info on SUNY buffalo dental school. Basically any info you can provide would be wonderful. Also, does anyone know what percentage of their grads get into specialty programs.

thanks

Hello! I am just finishing up second year at Buffalo. Some quick facts - public school = cheap for NY residents (and not too bad for out of state either), modern facility, each student gets their own chair in 3rd and 4th years. First year - all academic, Second year - half academic, half pre-clinical lab hell. Third year - half clinic w/patients, half academic (dental-related classes). Fourth year - all clinic, little academic. Definitely a strong clinical school, but we do well on the part I boards as well. Our professor told us in board review yesterday that nationally we were 10th in 2001, 8th in 2000, 10th in 1999, 7th in 1998. Specializing - a number of students do it each year. This year's grads (off the top of my head) - 3 ortho, 3 peds, 2 oral surgery, 2 prostho, 1 endo. I think about 80 something graduated this year. Tons doing GPRs, mostly in NY but some in California and elsewhere. Also a good number go straight to private practice (b/c the school does prepare you well clinically). Depends on what you want. In order to specialize you have to be academically stellar at whatever school you choose.

Feel free to ask questions/e-mail me.
