Anyone have a good infographic on the differences in training between Anesthesiologists and CRNAs? My high school classmate is doing a plastics residency at UCSF and apparently is under the impression CRNAs are also residents and we are basically equivalent. I just need something succinct to disprove it.

Thanks

You are a CA-3 and can't say on your own why you and a nurse aren't equivalent? Whats going on at UCSF??

I need it to post on his facebook wall to embarrass him and google isn't helping much. You tell me what's going on at UCSF cali boy.

It is the difference between a Doctor and a nurse.
Advanced Practiced Nursing is Medicine lite.

Tell him that anesthesiologists are to CRNAs as plastic surgeons are to their experienced first-assist PAs. The only difference is that we don't allow the first-assist to operate under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. But maybe we should... 😛

IMO, many plastic surgeons generally belong to the same class as many orthopods: small functional cerebrum, most of the brain being dedicated to serving the huge ego. If we had their level of "deep-thinking", we would consider them tailors and carpenters respectively. So it's not surprising that they don't see the difference between an anesthesiologist and a CRNA.
