Information about 2010 match - possible early?

Did I read somewhere in this forum that it will be possible to find a position in next year's match before the emails are sent out in March 2010? i.e. interview with a program, declare them your number one, have them return the opinion and thus match early. Does anyone know the details of this? My understanding is that this has always been the case for non US Med school seniors (like myself), but that this will be expanded to all applicants next year. Anyone? What is this called, if its true - early match?

non-allopaths can "pre-match" by signing a contract if offered by a residency. This is not that uncommon, but is usually found at less competitive programs. There are probably many threads about this on the site already, you may try the search function for more information.
