Hey guys,

It's me Mohammed again, well I was doing some research on schools I really want to go to and I came across one issue. Touro College in NY is on top of my list, I don't know why but I seen it since it's doors open and that's where I first heard of Osteopathic Medicine. I fell in love righ there. Well Looking at their pre-reqs they expect inorganic chemistry. Now I thought pre-med usually consisted of bio, chem, calc, organic, and physics each being 2 semesters long with lab. Now inorganic chemistry? Is this just to get into this school or are more schools adapting new pre-reqs.

I rather have all the information now so I can complete them while I'm still a undergrad. I did email the school for information on this and still have not received any information but let's see what happens. I have lots of time to take the classes since I won't take organic chemistry until I leave my community college which is next fall. 😳

Any advice is appreciated

I'm pretty sure that inorganic chemistry is the same as general chemistry.

When a school lists "inorganic chem" as a pre req, they call it that to differentiate it from *organic chem*. Don't worry, it's not the *actual* inorganic chem class they offer at many universities (which are harder chemistry major courses). They actually just mean **GENERAL CHEMISTRY** as offered by any community college, which is the same as most freshman take at a university.

**For pre reqs, GEN CHEM = INORGANIC CHEM.**

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was soooo worried, I was like not inorganic chem please not that class. C Bear you always save my threads. 🙂

Yeah, I meant for pre-reqs only. Of course there are upper-level inorganic chemistry classes.

Exactly. I saw this requirement a few years back and had a mini panic attack as well. Then I called a bunch of schools and realized they should probably change their wording! 😎

trust me, it's gen chem...

we're going to into medicine, not analytical chemistry...

I was thinking pretty much the same. I was wondering why inorganic???? It had me puzzled thanks for the quick answer.
