Hi all adners
I had 3.85-3.9 GPA before starting this semester but becasue of some of my mistakes and some of the family problems I got the following grades this semester. Biomedical Engineering 456 A,
Thermo I A+, Materials Sci 250, B-, Bio Chem "D" (One exam with 30 % and other two above the average but with 30% class avg 72 %) and Genetics A-. Now This is the worst semester I had. Bio Chem exam I had big fight at home with parents and couldn't concentrate on it (regarding my g/f). Now I am a junior now. So how much this semester will hurt me. I will be taking DAT and any input regarding timing of DAT and the gardes and what I should do i the Fall 2004 will be helpful. How much D (Missed the C- by 3%, thats how the curve was) in bio chem will hurt me. I am so much worried about it.

Don't worry about it too much, people with a gpa of 3.4 can get into most dental schools. I do recomend you retake Bio Chem, maybe even ask the professor to give you an F in the class, so that the class won't be in your gpa once you retake it and do better.

Yeah, this is my 500th post.

This is kinda sad, but it is true that you may not want to get a D.
But for some weird reasons, some colleges dont count your first few F's. I have a D and two C on my transcipt, but I know what I did wrong at that time. My overall GPA is still competitive enough. You are a good student, so 1 semester wont kill your chance. just make sure you do well next semester. I suggest taking the DAT during the summer because you have a lot more time to study and not to worry about your grade. Actually, I take it back. Take it when you are ready. I studied very hard during summer and got ready and got a decent score. It works for me.

For Winter 2004, get everything together. You could read the aadsas application and start to ask for LOR and your personal statement.

For spring 2004, do your research on schools and apply early.
study for dat, take dat during summer.
get ready for interviews, etc.

btw, r u a bio-engineer? where r u studying at?
