Input on my grades please!!!

Hi all adners
I had 3.85-3.9 GPA before starting this semester but becasue of some of my mistakes and some of the family problems I got the following grades this semester. Biomedical Engineering 456 A,
Thermo I A+, Materials Sci 250, B-, Bio Chem "D" (One exam with 30 % and other two above the average but with 30% class avg 72 %) and Genetics A-. Now This is the worst semester I had. Bio Chem exam I had big fight at home with parents and couldn't concentrate on it (regarding my g/f). Now I am a junior now. So how much this semester will hurt me. I will be taking DAT and any input regarding timing of DAT and the gardes and what I should do i the Fall 2004 will be helpful. How much D (Missed the C- by 3%, thats how the curve was) in bio chem will hurt me. I am so much worried about it.

My honest answer, it will hurt at some schools but not at others. Its really is not that bad. Personally, I would retake the class to demonstrate it as a fluke, but I am sure many will disagree with me on this. Your GPA is still pretty killer. No worries.

If it makes you feel better, then retake it. Otherwise, schools will know something is up when you smoke every other class youve been in and all of a sudden there is a "D" in biochem. I dont think it will hurt you.

Don't worry brother. I had to take bio 1 and biochem 3 times (both started with W,D then B). Out of 6 interviews, only couple schools mentioned about it during my interview. I just explained exactly what did happen. I got accepted at the end of one of my interview. If you get D, retake the class and pull up your grade. Your GPA's darn good anyway. Mine was 3.0

dont sweat it man, schools usually look at the big picuture and if they see 1 bad grade in one semester, they will know it was a fluke. also, they will also give you the opportunity to explain yourself during the interview or in a secondary application. But make sure that this doesnt happen again. Take it from me. I ve had far worse than a single D and im having no problems getting interviews. Dont worry.
and your schedule seems real tough last semester. take it easy. youre in college. 🙂

You should still have an excellent GPA after that semester. I think everyone is intittled to screw-up once at least. What you need to do next semester is bounce right back with you GPA. Show them that it was just an external factor. Then you need to retake that course and Ace it you should be cool. Ask far as the DAT, I suggest taking it in mid summer two weeks after you submit you AADSAS.

hm.. I just reviewed my transcript, I actually took biochem 3 times (W,D,B) and biology 1 ----> 4 times (W,D,C,A) 😱 😱

Retaking those classes mulitple times didnt hurt you when you had interviews? I retook physics and looks like i might have to retake it one more time..............🙁 (F the first time and i think a D maybe C this time) I was wondering if my chances of gettin into a dental school are down the drain........Thanks!!

My answer is NO NO and NO ..... I will join the Dental Class of 2008 next Fall. .... Be honest during your interview, Just tell them exactly what did happen. By the way, I got all As third and fourth year. Believe or not, I took 52 hrs in my fourth years alone and got all As.

Just do well the next time you take it. Was there a reason you did poorly before? If yes, make sure you explain what happened and how you learned from it.

i hope your family matters have been resolved.
Please spend some time during this break and do whatever u have to. get back next year to earn some kick-ass grades.
