Inquiring about Rejections

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i'm confused. are you saying that you have already been rejected by some programs, and want to find out the reasoning behind that? or have you just not heard back from some programs and want to find out how to inquire IF you have already been rejected?

please explain what you mean, and then maybe someone can help you out.

Call the program and politely/professionally ask why you were not considered for an interview, then ask them to reconsider and tell them why they should be considering you. Highlight some specifics in your CV that really make you stand out.

What's the worst that can happen? You regret rejected again, and you move on.

Agree with muscles,
BUT I think it would work better if you have a trusted mentor/faculty member who can do it for you. And only do it at one or two schools you are really interested in...
I actually got a fellowship interview by a faculty member at my institution calling up someone he knew and telling them they should interview me (after they had rejected me). I don't know if it was more of a "courtesy interview" or if they seriously considered me, b/c I didn't end up ranking them high anyway.

Agreed,
if you have a faculty member who can speak on your behalf, you are doing yourself a great disservice by not taking advantage of this.
