Does anyone have any insight on California programs? Which ones are malignant? Which ones give residents the most autonomy? Which ones have tougher lifestyles? Do residents catch a few hours of sleep on call? Which ones have the best didactics? Which ones have good facilities? Which ones have an overall positive atmosphere with friendly residents? Don't bother telling me which programs have the biggest name or most "elite" faculty because I don't really care.

my quick negative impressions:
UCI: some weird residents
UCD: program director disinterested/aloof
Loma Linda: Jesus is everywhere
Harbor UCLA: maybe too much autonomy
Kaiser LA: easiest lifestyle
USC: busiest

my quick positive impressions:
UCI: guaranteed PGY1 year
UCD: cool residents
Loma Linda: near LA
Harbor UCLA: autonomy
Kaiser LA: easiest lifestyle
USC: great clinical training

Short and sweet - I like it!

How about call schedules? How is it at UCLA, Stanford, UCSF, UT Southwestern, San Antonio?

ANyone can comment on UT-houston program? Calls, teaching etc?

Yeah...I know a few people who did aways at UCSF and came away with very positive opinions. Unfortunately, I did not receive an interview.
