Hello all,

I was curious if anyone with experience reviewing internship applications could shed light on what their process looks like. How closely are materials viewed? Are there certain things that are being looked for? How long do you spend reviewing each applicants materials?

Thank you!

I think every site is different. There was one where we had very rigorous checklists and criteria that the applicant had to meet, and another where it was less stringent and more of an overall holistic impression. As you might guess, fit seems to be valued the highest.

For what it is worth, our site has multiple reviewers exhaustively look over applications to ensure we are reaching a general consensus about fit, based on every included material (CV, essays, hours, LOR, etc.) and will engage in candid discussion if reviewers have large differences in opinions of candidates merit. Rest assured, we are putting forth a great deal of effort to find good fits, similar, I hope, to applicants.
