I was subject to institutional action first semester freshman year. I transferred from that school after that semester (probably irrelevant). My question is how to write about the incident on the application? I contacted the university and the specific thing that they said is on my record is "responsible for an intoxication and a failure to comply". What exactly happened: I was intoxicated and helping my very intoxicated room mate walk home (he couldn't actually walk on his own). A police officer approached and immediately grabbed my room mate and threw him on the ground. I panicked and took off running. I got a few blocks away and another officer started pursuing me and I stopped and put my hands up and complied and was very apologetic from there. The misdemeanors were expunged from my record. I believe that I will have to say the "failure to comply" part on my application. I don't have to report the misdemeanors. Should I explain the incident as it happened and talk about how I learned from it? Not tell exactly what I did, just say whats on my record and how I learned from it? Be concise or use as much space as I need to explain myself and give all the details? Anyone have any examples of how they explained something like this?
