ABout a year ago, a complaint was made against me for plagarizing a few discussions that we had to post online. I still received an A in the class, no sanctions were placed on me, and my transcript is clean. However, I recently discovered that Judicial Affairs has record of this incident and they said it will be wiped from my record a year after I graduate. Do I need to list this on AMCAS Application even though my transcript is clean? Will this destroy my chances of getting in to medical school for one mistake?

First, it definitely will NOT destroy your chances of getting into medical school. I was on probation my sophomore year and I still got plenty of interviews and acceptances, so don't stress too much.

As far as what to put on your application, I kind of lean towards putting it down if you think there is any chance that they could find out about it, just so it doesn't seem like you were hiding anything. But what happened exactly? You said there were no sanctions, so did they decide you hadn't plagiarized? I would just explain what happened, and maybe say something about what you learned from the experience, just in case. Good luck!

That is correct, their were no sanctions meaning the university did not punish me, my professor just gave me half credit for the assignment and that was it, but she still had to report it to the university she said.

It sounds like the institution did not take action. You received a poor grade for a poorly executed assignment but you were not sanctioned by the institution so I'd say no institutional action occurred.

Well, the professor still notified the university that she was giving me a grade penatly on that assignment for the indicated reason and there is a record of it in the judical affairs office. So im so confused as to whether or not this is an institutional action

When I was a sophomore in undergrad my cell bio teacher accused me of plagiarism. I submitted a paper...with a photograph on the front title page. The teacher claimed I didnt cite the source of the photograph (believe this $hit or not). I ended up having a judicial affairs hearing and was exonerated of all "charges." I left th is off any apps as no record of it was noted on any transcripts. I think you are in the same boat. If I/you had been found in violation this would be a different story!

Ask the school is any institutional action has been ever taken against you. Have their response in writing.
