Hey everyone, at the end of sophomore year I got in a little trouble for file sharing at the dorms (I downloaded one of those tracked torrents where they send a letter to your ISP, in this case the university). The penalty was my dorm internet being suspended for two weeks.
My question is is this something that counts as "Institutional Action" and thus needs to be disclosed on the AMCAS?

Sounds like institutional action to me. Did you have to meet with an RHD or judiciary? If so you should report it. Not reporting it can only hurt as not being honest seems like a more serious offense than downloading a song.

This is probably the only institutional action I'd say not to worry too much about. I would bet that a lot of your interviewers have kids or are medical students themselves and know what it is to just go online and download a song. It's always better to not get into trouble and so my advice is to report that it happened.

Thanks for the advice, I actually didn't have to meet with anyone about it but I'll go ahead and put it on there...hopefully no one on the admissions committees has strong feelings on the issue 😳
