The fact that the infractions were a week apart and you were still young is a saving grace.Beginning of sophomore year (September) I received 2 IAs a week apart. The 1st was for complicity, as I was in a room with people drinking, though I wasn't drinking. I didn't get a fine, just had to go to one community activity meeting. The 2nd was the next weekend where I came back to the dorms from an off campus party and ran into an RA who long story short decided I was drunk enough that I needed to be hospitalized. I received a fine, took a class, and interviewed the campus alcohol education coordinator for a 4 page essay on acute intoxication.
I'm currently a junior looking to apply next summer, which will be roughly 1yr 10months from the incidents. Obviously, this doesn't look great on an app, though I truly believe that I have since matured.
1st, how big of a negative impact is this going to have on my application if my overall app is above average? (I believe both incidents are in my file, though I'm not positive for the 1st one.)
2nd, what can be done to show that I have learned from this experience and matured as a person both in my application and/or in interview to not have this be as big of a red flag as it could be?
Thanks for your time.
You will need to explain and own these.
The best defence against these is time, and engaging in positions of responsibility.
