Hi,

So I need to get an oto/opthalmoscope because I passed up on this thing my school had set up w/ a supplier (didn't seem so solid to me). I found this website http://allheart.com/medical.html which seems pretty cool but I have no idea what I need from an otoscope and an opthalmoscope. I would really appreciate any advice on what qualities these instruments should possess to be the type of thing that will do me well in med school and beyond. Thank you very much for your help.

Try doing a search since this topic has come up more than once...

IMHO, don't waste your money on a diagnostic set (oto/ophtho.scope). Chances are you will be working in a hospital that has wall mounted units in every patient care room. The only thing it might ever be useful for as a student is practicing the fundoscopic exam, but in that case split the cost with a few classmates.

I bought a set as an MS2 and opened it maybe 4-5 times. But in the end, I sold it on eBay for a pretty good profit so all is good.
