Why is there increased glucagon in the case of an insulinoma? I understand that hypoglycemia stimulates glucagon release, but doesn't insulin also inhibit glucagon release? So shouldn't glucagon be low/normal with an insulinoma? Or does the hypoglycemia override the inhibitory properties of insulin on glucagon?

thanks!
