I'm a retail noob. What is the fastest way to get an idea about insurance troubleshooting. Like, what should I know in general? Which insurance companies can be billed for only 30 days and which companies can be billed for 90 days supply? any ideas?

The best way to really learn about that is by running into these issues and resolving them day in and day out. Most of the time, your computer system will tell you what's going on but if not, call them up. They can help you as well.

It's really hard to generalize but most of the time, Medco, Caremark, Federal plans allow 3 month supplies on meds but even then, some of these plans don't.

Yeah, no need to memorize each plan, just know what refill too soon, prior auth required, and max 30 day supply mean. I would say that covers 90% or so. Oh and mail order required or something more vague/less helpful.

Don't even bother trying to memorize things (except maybe your state's medicaid plans). Insurance carriers and plans are all so different and can change at any given time.

Usually your computer program will give you a heads up on what the problem is (as mentioned above) but if they don't you can always call the ins company and talk to a human who can walk you though it.
