In the personal statement, could talking about an interest in doing research during residency be a disadvantage in getting interviews? Would programs with no emphasis on research be less likely to extend an interview?

I have a genuine interest in research but I would rather match at a program without research than not match in derm at all.

I'm considering writing a second personal statement without the bits about specifically wanting to pursue research. Thoughts?

I would think most programs would be happy to have a resident pursue research if it's truly their passion (even those no emphasis on research). If you are genuine in your interest, I wouldn't be afraid to express it
