Interesting NYTimes article about Emory Dental school

I always wondered why Emory shut down their dental school too 🙁

Without knowing anything about the real reason Emory was shut down, I would think it was a financial decision. If a particular college in a university is a financial albatross, they tend to be the first on the chopping block when tough financial decisions need to be made. I can only assume a dental school is very costly to run if the clinic isn't bringing in sufficient revenue.

dont know why it was shut down, but i am glad it was shutdown. They should be required to pay some sort of fine, for their discrimination. Same with Harvard and all the other elite private schools which are openly racist.

By the way, I heard the Supreme Court is getting ready to hear Texas vs Fisher this week, the case that may settle affirmative action once and for all. Apparently Harvard and the other elite schools were blatantly bias against Jews in the past, and to this day they are blatantly biased against the Asian community. Hopefully the Supreme Court bans it once and for all. We need to cut all public funding / NIH funding/ tax exemptions, etc for schools that do this kind of stuff. Slap them with a hefty fine if they did it in the past.

🙂

affirmative action itself is discriminatory. using race to select applicants is unfair. AA was meant to benefit those with low socioeconomic status but it turned to select applicants only based on their race.
I'm glad that UC system abolished AA in college admission.

+1

True AA would not ask for race, but rather the average income of the household one was raised in.

However it seems that the quest for diversity is often metaled into the equation, making it easy to define AA as race.

👍

unfortunately the crooks of the UC system have found a way around the law. they use holistic admissions, and thus are able to give more preference to applicants from certain races. it is called affirmative action "through the back door". a prominent professor on the ad committee recently resigned because he knew it was unfair towards Asians.

it is funny to me how the ppl who are big proponents of AA, turn their back on the Vietnamese/Hmong population. Both populations have quite low incomes according to stats and high rates of poverty, but because they are Asian nobody cares about helping them, because helping them, would mean increasing the percentage of Asians at UC, which the UC system obviously despises.

I am praying for Texas vs Fisher to usurp AA COMPLETELY. Lets hope roberts doesn't bail this time and lets hope anthony kennedy choses right. Alito, Thomas, and Scalia are sure to ban it. god bless these men.
