Any good ideas on interesting aspects of schizophrenia on a particular patient to research on?

how about...

comorbid conditions? effects on work/social functioning?

I've always wondered why they smoke so much and don't seem to get lung cancer as much as they should.

ECT indications for schizo is pretty good.

That's what I did. Do a little history of ECT, current use, etc.

If you're really interested, do a pubmed search on the relationship of nicotine (nicotinic receptors) and schizophrenia. This has been researched for a while, and continues to be researched.

In short, nicotine at least slightly helps many schizophrenics organize thoughts. This is a gross generalization, but it's a start.
