So I am going to have to reapply this year and interfolio sent me this email about having my transcripts and committee packet and want me to pay 20$ to renew the account for a year. What's the point of this? I thought I was gonna have to re-input everything but was I wrong? At first I was like wtf is this but then later thought, maybe I should check in to this...😕

As far as I know they will keep all of your files up to 5 years. All you have to do is pay another $20 for them to reactivate the account for another year if it has expired.

I went a head and just did the 5 year thing when I first signed up... I figured I am going to use this account even in dental school

To maintain access to these documents, renew your account by selecting one of the following options:
  • 5-Year Account Renewal: $57
  • 3-Year Account Renewal: $39.90
  • 1-Year Account Renewal: $19
To renew your account, go to http://www.interfolio.com and log in with your username and password, then select the 'Account Settings' link to extend your account.

By extending your account, you will continue to enjoy Interfolio's trusted credentials management features:
  • Safe, secure and easy collection of your reference letters from professors, mentors, and colleagues.
  • Reliable and accessible storage of your important academic and professional credentials.
  • Efficient document delivery options available at your fingertips.

What I want to know though is what's the point? Won't you have to send in completely new stuff all over again and fill everything out again as well? Unless your stuff that you filled out last time is pre-filled in for you, I don't quite understand what the point is.

Someone please enlighten me🙂

Whats the point of spending money on Interfolio? why not just send your transcripts the AADSAS way?

Texas schools think they are above the rest of the country and require you to submit a separate application. Absolutely tedious!

dentalworks, you'll need this account in dental school? for what?

don't you want to hold on to your professor's recommendations? in case you ever wanted to specialize, and I am referring to the professors you meet in dental school

Interesting. I would have to answer your question with another: Why would you want your undergrad rec's when you could and probably should get updated (3-4 yrs since undergrad) ones from your professors and dentists you worked with in dent school? right?😕

But back to the matter at hand. Anybody know if I really should pay to keep my interfolio account? I guess I'm the only dumb one who didn't get in the first time😳

I'm in your shoes as well. I don't really see the point in paying either, because I was planning on resubmitting everything. And no, you're not dumb. I will also be reapplying this upcoming cycle.

well the point is to keep ALL the important recommendations you've received in your life time. Sure the ones I'll obtain in dental school will have more weight than the undergrad ones, but still, I think it would be a good idea to keep on them.

Its just $19, why are you so on the fence about updating it? Your seriously tell me you can't afford a $19 membership? I mean you ARE going to find this renewal membership useful cause all your old LORs are still going to be stored there. They will be a click of a button away from being sent to AADSAS....
